The problem

Approximately 4.77 billion users are served Google ads, while 58.5 million websites alone make money from AdSense.

However, research showed users, known as Publishers, struggled with sign-up and integrating AdSense with their sites.

So, how could we make it easier for them to connect their sites to start earning?

Our aim was to create a simple, seamless experience for Publishers who wanted to set up their sites quickly so they could focus on showcasing their content. 

We looked to reduce their cognitive load through clever design backed by solid research and supported by clear messaging. We also needed Publishers to perform specific actions to connect their sites to AdSense, which required clear and simple instructions.

Solution

Roll out a series of enhancements to simplify the onboarding process.

How I helped

I worked with Researchers, Designers, Product Managers and Engineers on the copy for each stage of the user journey and also contributed to customer comms around account activation/deactivation.
